Managing Projects and Managing Myself Becoming one of project managers for this class has been a very interesting experience for me so far. I truly didn’t know what kind of job I signed up. Now, I’ve realized that I have become a person for my classmates to run to whenever they need support and encouragement, I’ve had other students message me for help and guidance - being able to assist my classmates in a way that is caring and useful has been extremely rewarding. It truly pushes me to want to be more attentive towards my classmates and our assignments to ensure that their experience in this class is the best it can be. Project 2 was significantly less stressful than the first one. The first presentations we were assigned for this class felt like we were all scrambling like mice to get the projects ready and organized in time. But for this past project - me, my fellow project manager Erika, and my classmates had the luxury of having a little bit of flexibility when it came to ti...

🌟 Introduction For our second round of group presentations, the topics felt much more relevant to real life. The themes, education, mental health, and career readiness, weren’t just ideas from a textbook; they reflected what most of us are experiencing right now. Each group looked at a different aspect of how support systems influence our futures, whether through schools, families, jobs, or mental health. As I listened to each group, I noticed how everything connected. If education isn’t working, it impacts career paths. If mental health isn’t supported, it affects everything. These weren’t just presentations; they were real conversations about the challenges young people face today. 📚Group 1: Economy and Potential Careers Group 1 started by looking at how the economy affects the jobs we chase and the education paths we follow. What struck me was their connection between economic factors like inflation, unemployment, and student debt with career choices. Many students worry abo...

Reflection on Working with My Group: Modern Education and Its Setbacks Kevin Santiago Working with my group for the second time on the topic "Modern Education and Its Setbacks" has been a valuable and insightful experience. Not only did it provide an opportunity to further develop my collaboration and communication skills, but it also deepened my understanding of the complex relationship between education, government, and families in today’s society. Our group tackled the topic from different angles, which helped us construct a well-rounded discussion on both the strengths and weaknesses of the current education system and the role that various levels of government can play in supporting families and learners. My Individual Focus: Government Support for Families My individual topic—“What suggestion do you have for the local, state, and national government to do in relation to families?”—allowed me to explore the practical ways in which policy and government action can address...

Erik Munoz Reflection #2—Happiness Presentation Reflection       Reflecting on the three group presentations— Economy and Potential Careers (my group), Families and Education , and Mental Health and Social Life  I’ve come away with a deeper appreciation of how interconnected our personal development, career paths, mental wellness, and community support systems really are. Each presentation explored different themes, but together they painted a more complete picture of what it means to thrive in today’s society. These aren’t just isolated issues; they all impact one another. And as someone who worked on the second presentation, I can say the process itself helped me reflect on how I want to show up in my career, in my community, and even in my personal life. Understanding Careers Through Communication      In our project, we focused on the economy and potential careers, but more specifically, I had the opportunity to explore the role of communicat...

How Group Presentations Improved My Communication Skills 11 June, 2025 By Manuela Buitrago I recently took part in a group presentation. It was a class project and it turned out, a wonderful learning exercise . Each of us in our group was assigned a different section to address. My section had to do with modern education, and   its setbacks . I didn’t know at first what to say, but as I worked on it I learned a lot of things , not only about educating people, but about team work, speaking in front of people, and organizing what I wanted to say.  This was our second presentation . We had just wrapped another one the week before, so the process was still fairly fresh in my head. But in any case, this wasn’t the same presentation because it was a new topic. In this blog post, I will provide some insight into how I trained, what it was like, what issues I had, and what I learned from working with others. Getting Back into Teamwork This presentation served as a great reminde...

Happiness Presentation: What It Meant for Me Introduction The presentation this post is about was due just a few days after the one before, forcing us to focus and have the slides, research, and speaking notes ready in very little time. Taking this course during a six‑week mini‑term turned out to be perfect training for the sort of whirlwind month I might one day face at work. At first, I felt nervous because I didn’t have much time to work on this presentation due to having to work and doing assignments for my other classes –the hours seemed to evaporate. But I regained my confidence when I remembered how well my group had done on the previous project. I knew that I didn’t have to despair. We were on the right track. Group 3: Mental Health and Social Life On the due date, the first team to present was group three. Their subject was “Mental Health and Social Life.” They started by defining mental health, which includes emotional, psychological, and social well‑being. Afterwards,...

👀 My Take on the Group Presentations – Round 2 We just wrapped up our second round of group presentations, and once again, I came away impressed. Everyone brought something unique to the table. Even though the topics were different—ranging from jobs and the economy to family, education, and mental health—they were all connected by a common thread: how these things affect our lives and future. Here’s my breakdown of each presentation and what stood out the most. 💼 Group 1 – Economy & Potential Careers Group 1 took on the big topic of the economy and how it connects to our potential careers. What I liked about their approach was that they didn’t just throw out stats or talk about money—they connected it to real life. They showed how different economic factors—like inflation, minimum wage, and unemployment—can affect the kinds of jobs we end up getting or even how much education we’ll need to qualify for those jobs. One part that really stood out was when they talke...

Erika Navarro  Blog Post #2 Reflecting on the Presentations: A Project Manager’s Perspective Being the project manager for all three groups in our class presentations was both a rewarding and eye-opening experience. I wasn’t just there to watch each group present, I was involved from start to finish. From brainstorming sessions and refining topics, I got to witness how these ideas came together firsthand. In this post, I want to reflect on the experience, what I learned from each group, what stood out to me, and how it all ties into the broader themes of communication, education, and mental health. Each presentation had its own flavor, and I’m proud of what every group accomplished. Introducing Group 1 was a pleasure, especially since their topic, communication in career development, is something I believe is incredibly important right now. As we get closer to entering the workforce, how we present ourselves, network, and express our ideas can quite literally determine what doors o...

💬My Experience When we got our group presentations assigned on the first day of class, I remember thinking, “Wait, already?” It felt like a lot to take on, especially during the first week of the semester and since this was my first real group project in college. I was nervous about how it would all come together. Would everyone do their part? Would we finish on time? Would we sound good? But my group really stepped up. Everyone committed, and we put together a presentation I’m proud of. The whole experience helped me overcome a lot of my anxiety about group work. It showed me that when people communicate, stay organized, and contribute, teamwork doesn't have to be stressful; it can be motivating and even empowering.

Kevin Santiago Reflection #1 Blog Communication is more than simply speaking; it's how we bond, exchange ideas, solve issues, and work through challenges as a team. Throughout our class presentations, every group addressed a distinct aspect of communication, and the entire experience demonstrated to me that teamwork is more than just finishing a task. It involves developing the ability to work with a variety of personalities, be adaptable, and use your own talents while also relying on others. My Experience  My initial reaction upon seeing the assignment was that it would be challenging to collaborate as a group because each person has unique perspectives and experiences that influence how they approach the topic. But because I know that mankind depends on one another to learn and create a more sustainable society, I was excited to work with my classmates and thoroughly examine the chapter to see how they would approach the subject. Presenting information was only one asp...
